Fashion Models & Media Articulate Female-Centric, Smart Sensuality Values

February’s British Vogue connects a range of Smart Sensuality dots, giving us a great example of the fresh direction of fashion with conscience.

In a gorgeous multi-page editorial “Under Her Spell” Natalia Vodianova raises awareness for her charity, Naked Heart Foundation, which builds playground parks for Russian children in a multi-page editorial.

We’re entering an era where it’s almost mandatory for celebs — and that includes fashion models — to be visibly associated with some charity. The me-me-me, am-I-spectacular-or-what focus of celebrities is over.

Natalia Vodianova raises awareness for “Naked Heart Foundation” in British Vogue 2010As the real meaning of the fall of Lehman Brothers sinks in, along with the massive redistribution of wealth in America in the last decade, and what many countries are touting as the failure of American-style capitalism to improve their lives, celebs must look like they care for something beyond their own pampering.

In “Under Her Spell” Natalia Vodianova models dresses specially made by labels such as Chanel, Valentino and Prada, that will be auctioned off at a fund raising event this April with proceeds going towards Vodianova’s Naked Heart Foundation.

Foundations and poor people can’t live without the couture crowd. Smart Sensuality thinking bridges this gap, making ‘doing good’ a duty and not a gift of charity. The new think in philanthropy centers on effectivess for both the charity and the celeb in the limelight.

Everyone is tired of fluff. Talk is cheap; what are the results?

Being the fashion director for a moment, I acknowledge that British fashion is always eccentric, making the “Under Her Spell” editorial somewhat predictable in spirit. However, goddess worship and female principles are popping up everywhere in design.

Fashion moves to express goddess worship and female-centric principles, grounding women in nature and green principles.Next week Anne of Carversville will launch a serious-minded blog devoted to a rich intellectual discussion of right-brain, paradigm-changing female-centric thinking. Millions of thoughtful people have reached the absolute conclusion that “it’s now or never”, regarding the future of our world.

Even Howard Buffett agrees that the forces of global poverty and human suffering and need are so strong that soon we cannot turn back from what promises to be a catastrophe of human civilization — or lack of it.

Fashion and media must adjust to this new thinking. An excellent example of a style/model website trying to articulate this change is Modelina.com, who now maintains a charity channel. We applaud efforts like Modelina’s. Anne
