Drew Barrymore's 'Whip It' Makes Tough-Girl Souffle

The New York Daily News is running a feature called ‘Bad Girls’, jumping on fashion’s pervasive dominatrix trend. The look appeals to a female desire to commnicate ‘come-hither but remember that I’m in charge’. Many men desire to be sexually dominated, if only for a day.

RedTracker hasn’t shared the news that Drew is getting super good reviews for “Whip It” on all coasts. Barrymore says that she wouldn’t direct until she had a script she could ‘relate to’. The San Jose Mercury News writes:

“Whip It,” a bouncy, female-centric portrait of a misfit teenager finding her place in the world, isn’t the most original movie you’ll see this year. But first-time director Drew Barrymore illustrates an edict that vastly more experienced filmmakers would be wise to follow: If you surround yourself with a stellar cast and invest your project with heart and energy, you’ll earn the audience’s attention.
