Texas Abortion Bills Falls After Republican Lawmakers Change Date Of Vote To Tuesday, Not Wednesday Morning

(Posted on Anne’s Facebook page)

This is the FOX News version of what went down in Austin last night. I assume that our dear, dear Trisha MyChoice Lynch was among those screaming at the end and was part of the “unruly mob”. (Indeed, Trisha was rolling in at 5:30 am Texas time as I wrote this post on my FB wall.)

Note that the GOP leadership CHANGED THE DATE ON THE VOTE!!!!! to say it had happened on Tuesday, after filibuster-leading Wendy Davis was called down on three points of order. THEY LIED. The GOP voted to end the filibuster at 11:45 pm. Our Texas women (and men?) began screaming. There was a vote but after midnight.

Yet the TEXAS REPUBLICANS LIED AND CHANGED THE DATE. Zero integrity! Republicans have said they will do anything to pass this law restricting women’s right to self-determination and not be equated with a fertilized egg, which is not a baby — no matter what the Vatican says. Texas Republican men will do anything to show women they ARE equal to a fetus. WE ARE NOT, and you would do better telling a different version of reality, guys.

This battle is not about the rights of fertilized eggs. It’s about male power and the future of women’s roles in American society. Period. I don’t dismiss the heartfelt beliefs of all on this topic. But the attempt to control women’s bodies is about POWER over women.

It’s over for now. I hope that Trisha is getting a good day’s sleep and will work on her story for Anne of Carversville. We must prepare for the next volley.

I speak for all my friends and readers when I say that we are SO GRATEFUL to the pro-choice women of Texas who exhibited fierce, fierce energy and determination for 4-5 days now, fighting for our rights to self-determination, within existing laws that protects women and the unborn, once they can theoretically live outside the womb.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU women and men of Texas. Thank you Trisha. I am proud of you beyond words for demonstrating what sisterhood is really all about. It’s called suffering, exhaustion, refusal and determination ~ Anne
