Reports are that hundreds of thousands of you have gathered into central Cairo, answering the call for a “million-strong” march.

Peaceful protesters carried signs saying “Bye, bye Mubarak” and chanted “Take him with you” as helicopters flew overhead. Effigies of Mr. Mubarak hung from traffic lights.

The moderate people of Egypt have it in your power to bring peace to the Middle East, if you stay true to your mission that yours is not an ideological battle but a fight for your human rights.

Egyptian culture and your great history existed long before monotheism took power in the world.

We pray that you succeed in transforming your country and that you wield your new power and influence wisely. American media may call your protest the “million man march”, but that is because we only know patriarchy in our country.
