Arianna Huffington Intends to Reinvent News & Entertainment Media

Arianna Huffington insists that her Huffington Post is absolutely not a partisan defender of the White House. Arianna’s at the center of a series of percolating questions about the future of American newspapers, the responsibilities of all major media to responsibly define ‘what’s newsworthy’, and the shifting balance between news, features and tabloid entertainment.

In an extensive feature, Politico looks at both Arianna Huffington’s zigzag career in, out and around political reporting and the business model behind the Huffington Post, which had 6.7 million unique visitors in May.

“Everything is fair game as long as we stick to the facts,” Huffington insists. And to get at more of those facts, she recently started the non-profit, non-partisan Huffington Post Investigative Fund, hiring Larry Roberts, formerly investigative editor at The Washington Post, to help get it off the ground. Roberts started this week at the Fund, which is expected to launch this summer with a team of roughly 12 staffers, according to the American Journalism Review.
