Waiting On Michelle Obama

Newsweek writer Allison Samuels sums up my own feelings about First Lady Michelle Obama. I adore her, but I admit that I expected a wider platform of issues for her.

The Samuels article addresses the subject of Michelle not wanting to take the Hillary path to an unfavorable public image.

Nancy Pelosi can tell Michelle that poll numbers don’t mean everything for a successful woman. And it does seem that Hillary turned out just fine, after a couple verbal mishaps and the nation’s inability to grasp her now well-received research on health care.

I know; I know. The First Lady is not an elected position.

There’s a major difference between Michelle’s style and that of Carla Bruni, Sarah Brown and Queen Rania, who we also track on Anne of Carversville

Each of these women is also a mom and all are far more involved in the disheartening problems of life than Michelle Obama.

Writing yesterday that I would not continue with Michelle-Style, because there’s not enough substance to warrant my time, I was forced to admit that I desire a more global-thinking, problem-involving first lady in our American White House.

I embrace Michelle’s commitment to healthy eating and truly hope she pulls our all the stops to get America on a much-needed diet, but the world’s problems are so overwhelming — and our here in America, too — that I want a First Lady on jet fuel — or organic biofuel, I should write.

Her commitment to Smart Sensuality exercise and a healthy, buff body is equally inspiring, and I can’t see too many pics of Michelle Obama looking fabulous. I love them all, but it’s not enough for me. I need a bit of wonky from such a smart woman.

Make no mistake. We’ll keep our eye on the First Lady, supporting her at every turn, in her life journey in and out of Washington politics. Anne
