Sex Loss Tied to Simplified Prostate Surgery
/Prostate cancer surgery designed to reduce hospital stays appears to have significantly higher risk of losing sexual function and urine control than traditional surgery, based on Harvard research.
Men undergoing surgery in which surgeons make three or four small cuts in the abdomen were 40 percent more likely to be impotent and 30 percent more likely to be incontinent, according to the findings published today in the Journal of the AMA. The simplified technique is used in 40 percent of current procedures to remove the prostate. via Bloomberg News
