J'Adore: Bombay Sapphire Martinis, especially in Casablanca

I’m on austerity when it comes to drinking martinis.

However, New Year’s is coming and I surely will make exceptions this week. Being one of those “True Grit” women, I drink gin martinis — not vodka — and Bombay Sapphire is my brand.

This video shows you precisely how to make a great martini. And YES, do throw the vermouth away!! Vermouth-doused-ice cubes will do the trick.

It’s a little early in the morning, to be thinking about gin martinis. Being the incurable romantic that is Anne, my mind goes to Bergman and Bogart in Casablanca.

And speaking of Casablanca, it was like a lover who can’t possibly live up to your expectations … having fantasized about him or her too long in advance. Casablanca was a BIG disappointment 15 years ago … sort of like the Pyramids backing up onto an Egyptian parking lot.

Perhaps it’s better now???
