J'Adore: Queen Rania with Fareed Zakaria, Women in Islam
/Hello, friends … new and old,
If you are new to Anne of Carversville, you don’t know that we love Queen Rania and we follow her closely from the early days of her award-winning YouTube campaign about stereotypes.
CNN Elegant, kind, involved, sensual, beautiful, articulate, caring … Queen Rania has genuine celebrity status at Anne of Carversville.
Our Queen’s latest award is being chosen as CNN’s “The Spirit of … ” in 2008.
Based on her YouTube campaign, In November, Queen Rania was presented with the first ever YouTube Visionary Award “for her bold use of the video-sharing network to discuss stereotypes about Islam and the Arab world.”
I neglected to mention that — like President-Elect Obama — Queen Rania is digital hip.
Her David-Letterman-inspired video actually inspired me to loosen up a bit more. If Queen Rania can push the envelope … well, so can I. In a slightly silly way, she gave me more confidence to let it rip here on the website.
CNN has posted a CANDID, illuminating two-part interview with CNN/Newsweek’s Fareed Zakaria on the subjects of women in Islam and moderation. Queen Rania truly speaks her own mind, certainly in concert with her husband Abdullah II bin al-Hussein.
It’s Holiday time and you don’t have a lot of it, but I encourage you to bookmark this J’Adore and listen to this interview in the future. It’s well worth the investment of your time.
All hail Queen Rania!
Love, Anne
