'Return of the Supermodels' by Mario Testino for Vanity Fair September 2008
/I do love my models, the real Supermodels: Naomi Campbell, Stephanie Seymour, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer, and Christy Turlington, lensed by Mario Testino in ‘The Return of the Supermodels’ for Vanity Fair September 2008. It’s been on my mind to find this editorial for months. Yes!
Here we have them — the women who were too strong, too fat, too confident, made too much money, and had too much Smart Sensuality attitude for some of the more prominent men in fashion [and women editors, as well].
Hence, women were downsized for real and in professional stature — unless you were lucky enough to be employed by my alma mater Victoria’s Secret.
The group of women in this editorial were collaborators, not do-as-you’re-told human coat racks pretending to be models.
The Supermodels were businesswomen. Some were nice; other’s not so much. But they all commanded r-e-s-p-e-c-t. Anne
