Prada Spring 2014 Campaign of Color-Blocked Feminism by Steven Meisel
/In his review of Prada’s Spring 2014 fashion show, Tim Blanks wrote that “it’s easy to forget how political a creature Miuccia Prada has always been.” For young readers, AOC reminds us that Prada graduated from the University of Milan with a bachelor's degree in political science in 1971, and in 1973 earned a Ph.D. in political science from the same institution.
"I want to inspire women to struggle," fashion’s queen Intellectual said about the show. The contrast against her Prada’s men’s show — shown earlier in June — was absolute. The men were much more passive, as if lost in their own private reveries.
In contrast, the women in the Spring 2014 were bad-ass with backbone, as captured by photographer Steven Meisel in the campaign itself. Olivier Rizzo styled the shoot with its huge model cast, which may have been shot right after the show or even assembled as a series of collages. It was a true feast for the eyes. /Hair by Guido Palau; makeup by Pat McGrath
