Isabeli Fontana Smolders, Lensed by Mario Sorrenti for Vogue Paris December 2011

The sensual goddess Isabeli Fontana appeared to be total sync with photographer Mario Sorrenti when shooting the fashion story ‘La Deese’. Fashion editor turned editrix of Vogue Paris, Emmanuelle Alt had been EIC for a year with this December 2011 issue of VP.

Vogue Paris was never the same without Carine Roitfeld, in provocation or a deep embrace of a powerful female sensuality. With the arrival of a fashion story like this one, many of us remained hopeful that photographers like Sorrenti would have a place in the global fashion bible.

Emmanuelle Alt seemed to understand this concern that she might dim the light of sensuality revered by many of us, including Anne and AOC. Over a decade later, many of us feel she did a decent job with Vogue Paris — which is now a dumpster fire magazine called Vogue France.

As for Isabeli Fontana, she is age 28 in these 2011 images by Sorrenti.

The world of fashion photography has also changed, with the explosion of online media and its low standards. We are in a moment of repositioning, however, in the “how low can you go fall from grace” reality for much fashion media.

Not only are we seeing new, high-end magazines launching as quarterlies or semi annuals, accompanied by websites. AOC heard a recent statement not yet validated by us, that while the internet continues to grow exponentially, the small devices market is not expanding.

This website is dominated by all devices Apple with Mac outpacing iPhones. It’s almost impossible to appreciate what we’re trying to achieve on AOC from a small screen. Then add in the reality that AOC always has something to say.
