Mariacarla Boscono in 'Like a Warrior' by Tim Walker for Vogue Italia March 2014

In the March 2014 issue of Vogue Italia, photographer and director Tim Walker shared this fashion story ‘Like a Warrior’ starring model Mariacarla Boscono. Jacob K was stylist in this strong woman fashion narrative, one that exudes immense controlled energy — but without clarity of what is actually happening.

Because Tim Walker is the mastermind, I was reluctant to reach any conclusions without further research. The result of my quest was not fruitful at all, until I saw a clip of this film on Nowness, named ‘The Mechanical Man in the Moon’.

Colored a bit differently than the fashion story — and presented in 2016, according to the text — it looked very much like the Vogue Italia fashion story, once I hit ‘play’.

There is no sound, only old-fashioned flash cards explaining the storyline.

Mariacarla Boscono is traveling in a distant galaxy when her vehicle crashes to this very desolate place. Upon landing our brave heroine finds pieces of a mechanical man strewn everywhere, obviously broken to pieces in her accident.
