Lupita Nyong'o in Paris by Mert + Marcus for Vogue US October 2015 | Archives

Anne of Carversville is always on the hunt for fashion posts that we missed. We install them — when they cross our path — here in our old fashion channel where they belong. Google is very happy that we continue to update our old works, is equally happy that we work to maintain order in the new one.

Our beloved Lupita Nyong’o was styled by Tonne Goodman in the October 2015 issue of American Vogue. Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott made the glam capture at Bouillon Racine restaurant in Paris near the Sorbonne.

The fashion story was Lupita’s second Vogue cover story, flashed during summer’s Paris Couture Week. Plum Sykes interviewed the beautiful star with an equally beautiful heart at Le Bristol — my old haunt before moving to a residential hotel more than a few years ago.

In advance of Lupita’s Star Wars opening, she was in Paris direct from her native Kenya, a trip combined with Lupita’s elephant saving mission. At least AOC got that one right! Lupita already had an Oscar in her life achievements backpack, for her role as slave girl Patsey in Steve McQueen’s ‘12 Years a Slave’.

Joking with Sykes about calling pants “slacks’, Lupita responded ““What can I say? I’m a Pisces. I have the soul of an 80-year-old woman inside me.”

Fast-forward to December 2020, and Lupita Nyongo’s latest film has been pushed back a full year. The star joins Diane Kruger, Fan Bingbing, Jessica Chastain — who spearheaded the project—, and Penelope Cruz in ‘The 355’ spy thriller.

As always happens when I’m driving the articles for posting car at AOC, a simple pursuit on one image creates a blockbuster discovery that goes to the heart of AOC’s DNA. It doesn’t happen to others who work on AOC as free-lancers. Only me. And I did just make a blockbuster discovery about Lupita, one that I will update shortly here. Gotta go, while I pick my jaw up off the floor. ~ Anne
