In a meaty interview with Rosamund Dean, Elson talks about her relationship with social media and share deep reflections about her two children.

Scarlett, 12, and Henry Lee, 11, were born during her marriage to musician Jack White, which ended in 2013, with the fallout widely reported in the press. Understandably, it’s not something she wants to talk about now. Particularly since she tells me that a previous interview ran under the headline ‘Hit the Road Jack’ (‘How mean is that to poor Jack!’). It’s clear to see why she embraces the era of social media, which hands narrative control back to the individual. ‘I love Instagram. Twitter and I don’t really get along. I need more than 140 characters,’ she laughs, ‘clearly!’ She jokes that she’ll never be ‘the thong-in-the-mirror selfie girl’, before quickly adding, ‘I’m not judging.’ She met Emily Ratajkowski, the ultimate thong-in-the-mirror selfie girl, and says: ‘I love her. She’s got an opinion, she’s doing her thing and probably making a s***-ton of money.’
