Audrey Marnay Channels Cleopatra In Damian Foxe Elegance For How To Spend It Magazine November 2016

Model Audrey Marnay channels the spirit of Elizabeth Taylor as Egyptian pharoah Cleopatra in 'Dressed to Empress'. Cleopatra VII Philopator, considered to be an enormously skilled leader and politician, married Roman Mark Anthony as the Roman Empire spread into what is now the Middle East. Cleopatra died on August 12, 30 BC in Alexandria, Egypt.  As Christianity swept through the region, pharoahs were no more and -- in a moment of religious coincidence, if not irony -- Jesus unseated non-Christian gods and goddesses as the religious and values-driven, power center of the sprawling 'civilized' universe.

Damian Foxe styles Marnay, then captures the images of 1950s-inspired daywear from Alexander McQueen, Lanvin, Prada, Chopard jewels, gladiator footwear and more at Rome's Cinecittà Studios for The Financial Times November 2016 issue of 'How To Spend It Magazine'. / Hair by Brady Lea; makeup by Marco Antonio
