The Hollywood awards season has pitted Nyong’o against Jennifer Lawrence’s best supporting actress performance in ‘American Hustle’. Both actors are nominated for Oscars with Lawrence winning a Golden Globe Award and Nyong’o winning the Screen Actors Guild and Critics Choice awards. They may be rivals, but smiles abounded between the two at the SAG Awards.

The next fole for Lupita Nyong’o is ‘Non-Stop’, a thriller starring Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore, opening Feb. 28. The 30-year-old Mexico-born, Kenya-raised actor was recently named to Forbes magazine’s 20 Young Power Women in Africa 2013, joining Brooklyn artist Wangechi Mutu, who we profiled this past weekend.
