Paris Café Society Embraced Bad-Ass Women, Not Our Erasure
AOC knows that it annoys the hell out of Jonathan Anderson that women like Anne keep reminding him about the facts of history in his House of Dior. He complains that we are “boxing him in”.
Not really, because it’s not about him. It’s about our erasure from Dior’s history and the expectation that we will just fall in line with his alleged, Sun King genius that calls for such erasure.
The real Cafe Society heroines were true-grit women, many of them wealthy women involved in espionage with the French resistance. Christian Dior’s sister Catherine was one of its leaders; and the designer offered her and her co-conspirators refuge in his prominently-situated apartment in Paris.
Taking a well-established historical term and innocently [or not] trading it for these lovelies enjoying giggles and milkshakes is exactly how erasure works.

H&M Spring-Summer 2026 Paris Fashion Week Top Models 'In Between' Campaign AOC Fashion
The world’s top models wearing H&M’s off-duty casual femininity from designer Eliana Masgalos between shows includes Alex Consani,Awar Odhiang, Diane Chu, Jacqui Hooper, Maty Fall, Mariacarla Boscono, Mona Tougaard, Paloma Elsesser, Sora Choi and Vittoria Ceretti. Some models had their dollie sidekicks riding shotgun.
This campaign is part of H&M’s larger strategy around their participation in global fashion events. The brand becomes a global fashion voice — not by competing with their own runway show — but by becoming part of everyone’s show in a very democratic way.
Frankly, this strategy appeals to the models, who continue to seek greater direct influence in fashion week action and events. Translated, they want to have roles beyond being a mannequin. The best example of this desire — and ability — was model Awar Odhiang’s spontaneous ‘hostess with the mostess’ takeover of the closing of Matthieu Blazy’s fabulous Chanel debut.

How to make Chanel [IG] tweed suits once again a must-have for ‘it girls’ is surely a high priority on Matthieu Blazy’s October debut ‘To Do’ List.
Until then, in the Fall Winter 2025 campaign, we see Mona Tougaard out and about on the streets of Paris. As for rewriting codes, that’s Blazy’s job and this was a caretaker collection now on view in campaign images by Mikael Jansson [IG].
Top model Mona Tougaard sends a spring 2025 fashion message with zero ambiguity: ‘Extra, Extra! This Spring More Is More’ in the March 2025 issue of W Magazine.
I mention that this fabulously successful model she does not look happy. Rather, she’s thinking “How the hell did I end up in this mess!”

Tyler Mitchell's Three Beauties -- Anok, Awar, Mona on Jekyll Island, Ga -- in Vogue Magazine
Top models Anok Yai, Awar Odhiang and Mona Tougaard surely had a deeply emotional experience, working with stylist Camilla Nickerson in this ancient roots fashion story for Vogue, shot by Tyler Mitchell [IG] in Jekyll Island, Georgia.
Key Points About Jekyll Island
1] the human and ecological history of Jekyll Island, which now dates back to 2500 BC and the indigenous Native American tribes, predominantly the Guale people who lived there; 2] the arrival of the Europeans and slavery on the island; 3] the rise on Jekyll Island of an aristocratic cafe society getaway culture in the 1920s that parallels the same rise in Europe
Tory Burch SS 2025 Campaign Claims the Power of Destiny and the Sporting Life
American brand Tory Burch releases her Spring Summer 2025 campaign, a collection of images infused with an elegant athleticism starring Ida Heiner, Irina Shayk and Mona Tougaard. Photographer Jamie Hawkesworth [IG] captures the trio in Paris posing in a track and field gymnastics facility.
Ida Heiner wears the new Tory Burch Destiny trainer, as further evidence of the growing influence of sport for the brand.
Tory Burch Destiny Trainer
Described as a “retro running sneaker inspired by the spirit of a good challenge”, Tory Burch’s Destiny Trainer is well-named in the spirit of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Led by Louis Vuitton — a key sponsor of the summer games — the symbolism of the Olympics, and the extraordinary journeys that athletes take to reach them, closely align with the values at the heart of the French luxury fashion house, its chairman Bernard Arnault and CEO Pietro Beccari.
Reality is that LVMH, including Louis Vuitton, and Tory Burch are sort of ‘kissing cousins’.
Versace [IG] shares its SS 2025 ad campaign ‘Individuality as an Attitude’, led by Chief Creative Director Donatella Versace, with photography by Mert Alas [IG] and Marcus Piggott [IG].

The Louis Vuitton Cruise 2025 Campaign is a modernist vision inspired by artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière’s choice of Barcelona, as the site for the actual runway show on May 23.
Specifically, the site was the Hypostyle Room of Antoni Gaudi’s Park Güell, a roofed hall whose mosaic ceilings are a Gaudi signature. There was little actual Gaudi inspo in the clothes on the Barcelona runway and featured now in the new Louis Vuitton campaign shot by Jamie Hawkesworth [IG], with creative direction by Charles Levai and Kevin Tekinel.
Campaign models Cara Schadel, Larissa Moraes, Libby Bennett, Mona Tougaard and Thea Almqvist pose against yet another face of the Mediterranean, writing in photos a love letter to a beloved Barcelona.

Alaïa creative director Pieter Mulier also has a cover in TTA25 and appears in conversation with veteran casting director Ashley Brokaw.
‘Experimental’ is not a word used over the last 20 years to describe designer Tory Burch [IG]. When she presented her Fall 2024 collection at the New York Public Library last February, a new adjective arose to describe Burch — one we love. The word was ‘daring’.
Vogue Runway summed up the Fall 2024 Tory Burch collection, writing: “Let’s just say she’s come a long way from the people-pleasing crystal embellished tunics and Reva flats that were her earliest successes.”
The Fall 2024 campaign photographed by Jamie Hawkesworth [IG] in Lisbon, Portugal plays with light and quiet joy. It captures Tory Burch’s new word — which is good — because fashion hammers the same words to death. We need some new words — in this case ‘sublime’.
Supermodel Mona Tougaard takes command of the July 2024 issue of Vogue Korea [IG], styled by Eunyoung Sohn in Chanel Metiers d’Art Fall 2024.

Top model Mona Tougaard poses in the inaugural issue of Beyond Noise [IG], styled by co-founder Sarah Richardson and creative director Pieter Mulier in The Art of Alaïa. Photographer Larissa Hofmann [IG] is behind the lens, capturing Tougaard in the elevated print project, scheduled to start shipping in the USA and EU/UK on May 31, 2024.
The biannual magazine Beyond Noise is a project of stylist Sarah Richardson and her photographer husband Richard Bush. Investor Stefan Ericsson also was key to launching the project.
Beyond Noise targets America as its core market, then the U.K., Europe and the rest of the world. Richardson calls America an ‘optimistic country’ [ask me in November, Sarah] but one in need of a women’s voice beyond American Vogue.

Nazario celebrated his 36th birthday party in Paris on February 29, hosted by Samira Nasr, Harper’s Bazaar US editor-in-chief.
Original supermodel and “legendary’ Gianni Versace muse, Claudia Schiffer takes the star position in the Versace spring/summer 2024 campaign.
Friend to the house and close friend of Donatella Versace, Schiffer wore a similar Atelier Versace version of the dress to the recent premiere of the Argylle movie in London.
Photographer Mert Alas [IG] captures Claudia, who is joined by Loli Bahia, Mona Tougaard, and Fernando Lindez in the campaign spotlight.

Today’s release of a new Ferragamo Fall 2023 campaign, conceived by Ferragamo creative director Maximilian Davis, takes a spin on the Louvre’s success, confirming a new and very important, global-culture role for Ferragamo and Italian culture, via the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
The partnership between the Ferragamo brand and the Uffizi Gallery is not a one-off ad campaign. Details of its depth and reach will emerge in the coming months.
Lensed by American photographer Tyler Mitchell [IG], who was named to the TIME 100 list in 2023 and has a cameo in the images, the Ferragamo Fall 2023 campaign features top models including Anok Yai, Jessica Stam, Lina Zhang, Mona Tougaard, Paul Hamline, Taemin Park, and Vittoria Ceretti.

Anne of Carversville lives very close to the ancient symbolism of much of the artistic imagery featured here, and how stereotypes of women have evolved over the last 12,000 years.
Photographed by Tyler Mitchell and styled by Carlos Nazario, top model Mona Tougaard was captured in the surreal landscape of Salin d'Aigues-Mortes, in the Camargue, for the summer 2023 issue of i-D magazine.
My response to Irina’s “wet and wild” fashion story, shot in Joshua Tree, California was connected to 1] her walking nearly naked in a recent Cannes event where everyone else appearing in photos was wearing clothes. As a publicity stunt, I can’t even remember the jewelry brand she was wearing; and 2] specifically in Joshua Tree, Danielle Midenge shot Winnie Harlow recently with a vibe that is more akin to this one with Mona Tougaard and Tyler Mitchell in the south of France. I loved Daniella’s Winnie images and revere the ancient history of Joshua Tree.
i-D acknowledges that Demeulemeester and her former new designer don’t seem to live at all in the same territory on the fashion spectrum. It’s a very convoluted explanation by Ludovic of why he was perfect to interpret Ann’s vision. Note: I also am very impressed by Robert Mapplethorpe. I still don’t get the shared synergy.
Model stars Mona Tougaard and Vittoria Ceretti are lost in bad-girl thoughts, oblivious to a message from artist Tony Cokes’ video works message for 032c: “I want you to get off your fucking asses and do something for the people.”
It’s all very Berlin, as photographer Sebastian Faena [IG] knocks these two Vogue model queens off their pedestals and brings them down to earth in ‘CODEPENDENCY’, styled by Ras Bartram.

Vogue definitely got the sex appeal part right. Also pussy-bow blouses can be deceptive in high-stakes negotiations.
Leather and sequins, feathers, metal and rhinestones — a wealth of accessories assume new positions in surreal curiosities that become surreal tableaus with an old masters vibe. Who better to capture models Mona Tougaard and Guinevere Van Seenus than Paolo Roversi.
