Ralph Lauren's 2023 US Open Collection Is Courtside August 28 in Queens/NYC
/Ralph Lauren’s 2023 US Open collection is courtside on Monday, August 28 thru Sunday September 10 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, New York.
Since 2005, the storied American fashion brand has dressed the on-court officials and ball crew members at the US Open last grand slam event of the year.
Skirts and/or Shorts for the Ball Crew
Ball girls made their debut at the US Open in 1977, an encouraging factoid until you learn that ball girls first ‘worked Wimbledon’ in 1920.
Ah yes. It’s a long road to women’s emancipation, even when you’re chasing balls around the tennis court in a grand slam event.
AOC finds the French much more emancipated for women than America these days. But the French Open didn’t get ball girls until 1984; and the Australian Open was also in the early 1980s.
Ralph Lauren, Team USA and the Road to Paris 2024
AOC expects LVMH to help deliver another spectacle for the ages, as a premium partner of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
I’m not sure how they will top the June 20, 2023 Pharrell Williams debut for Louis Vuitton Men — a night that rocked Paris with sounds of ‘Joy’.
Ralph Lauren will again be outfitting Team USA for the Paris 2024 games— giving us two global citizens companies, who share Anne of Carversville’s values.
Paris will be the second city [after London] to host the Olympic Games three times. Of note, 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of Paris' 1924 Summer Olympics, and that is a fantastic anniversary.
The clock is frozen in this moment at 345 days; 11 hours; 28 minutes, but we will be updating the road to Paris with ongoing news, using the Ralph Lauren time until opening night.
Simone Biles in Paris 2024?
Our most beloved USA gymnast Simone Biles is keeping her options open for Paris 2024, after blasting into the heavens at the Aug. 4–7 U.S. Classic in Illinois. Biles had been training in private — so private that nobody knew about it. It was as if Rihanna finally dropped a new album on her way to deliver her second baby.
After confronting all of her physical, emotional, psychological demons, Biles revived the monumental Yurchenko double pike, leaving AOC speechless. In command and with confidence, she confronted the move that could break her neck, kill her or leave her paralyzed for life. So there’s a good chance that Simone Biles will be in Paris on opening night, dressed by Ralph Lauren as a member of Team USA.
At the same time, we must leave Biles to drive her own car at her own speed, based on her own diverse goals and personal vision of how to compete. Simone Biles long ago became a champion.
Sustainability at Ralph Lauren
Returning to Ralph Lauren’s 2023 US Open collection, the ball crew shirts will again be crafted from yarn made from recycled plastic bottles. In 2021, Ralph Lauren joined with Wilson Tennis to collect over 540 lbs of Wilson plastic tennis ball cans, with the goal was to recycle them for fabric production. The recycled plastic ball crew shirts debuted in 2022, with commitments by Ralph Lauren to continue the project.
Polo Ralph Lauren has launched a custom Create-Your-Own program, a collection of personalized Polo Ralph Lauren apparel and accessories, including polo shirts, fleece, caps, tennis towels, water bottles and totes.
The full US Open Collection is available at select Polo Ralph Lauren shops and on-site at the US Open, as well as online at RalphLauren.com for the duration of the tournament.
Ralph Lauren released a truly impressive report on its corporate commitments this summer. AOC quoted lavishly from it in the article below, which was part of our post on Ralph Lauren’s achieving Cradle to Cradle Certified Gold Cashmere Sweater status on key sweaters.
