Victoria's Secret The Tour '23 Campaign Video is Fabu! Sexy! Empowering! No Wings!
/Victoria’s Secret [IG] delivers an infusion of high energy lingerie images worn by a stellar cast, in advance of the September 26, streaming release of ‘The Tour ‘23’. It seems that there is a September 6, streaming release on September 6, followed by the total documentary big event on September 26 on Amazon Prime.
To be honest, I was shell-shocked at first, especially when I saw the images by ace photographer Carlijn Jacobs [IG]. YES!
My first reaction when I saw the VS composite image was that it was straight out of the Dior Fall 2022 campaign, not Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty 2019 show. I forgot about that show. But I have no problems at all with the master image.
There are only so many ways that a brand can present a very large cast in a single still image. In addressing the similarities between Rihanna X Fenty and VS above, The Cut does acknowledge that reality and also that window staging is common in marketing.
Their point is that the similarity is tied to a direct competitor.
Consider it yet another another Victoria’s Secret brand rebirth. The stills used in the large composite are from film, where the models are emerging from a tunnel. A pink rebirth canal. Got it?
The campaign was shot at Corberó Space in Barcelona — the VS explanation of the inspo. Looking at the architecture, it’s a totally plausible explanation from VS.
This #TheTour23 video tells me VS may have gotten its mojo back!!!
Fingers Crossed for Victoria’s Secret
AOC isn’t ‘going there’, because nobody has been tougher on Victoria’s Secret in 2023 than Ms. Anne. We’re not saying one negative word until ‘The Tour 23’ has an airing.
This is a great step forward, back into the VS I love and worked relentlessly for a decade to help create.
