Prada Fall 2022 Campaign Lensed by David Sims | Humanity 'Yes' But Also Exactitude

Photographer David Sims [IG] captures the Prada Fall 2022 campaign for both men’s and women’s collections. The luxury Italian house’s Fall/Winter 2022 campaigns pair with intention a still-life of an object with each model/talent. The chosen totem has deeply personal meaning and relevance to the individual Prada protagonists in the campaign collages.
The total cast for the women’s campaign will include Amanda Murphy, Hunter Schafer, Kai Newman, Kendall Jenner, Lina Zhang, Liya Kebede, Loli Bahia and Sora Choi by David Sims. Images for the women’s campaign aren’t fully rolled out. The men’s campaign includes actors Damson Idris, Jeff Goldblum and Rami Malek.
Styling for both men and women is by Olivier Rizzo./ Hair by Duffy; makeup by Lucia Pieroni

Prada writes that, the campaign is centered around "offering windows on human life, expanding their narrative." In doing so, the campaign personalizes the Prada Fall/Winter 2022 collection, and helps project a real voice to the models and actors.
Kendall speaks of the importance of her journals as a young woman. In recent years, she has directly addressed the journals in her interviews as the place where she could truly be herself.

Prada’s Fall 2022 Campaign Creative Director Ferdinando Verderi expresses an even loftier vision than the one just expressed by AOC. Verderi had each model pose portrait style in order to “encapsulate their humanity “and reflect the “depth of the human experience.”
Verderi selected the final roster of women to represent all types of Prada women. The brandsought models who had unique personalities, identities, and lived experiences.

It’s been years — if ever — since Anne of Carversville featured back to back “intellectual” luxury brand campaigns. Writing last night about the new Jil Sander campaign, I chose the concept of “freedom meets exactitude” to express how the Jil Sanders images were resonating in my own spirit and emotions.
I feel the same way about this Prada campaign, lensed by David Sims. Let me also say that as of this moment, Google has but one entry in an untimed search for the phrase “freedom meets exactitude”, although I read it on the gallery page representing Belgian artist Katrien De Bauwer [IG]

The concept grabbed my brain in a moment when I am being very deliberate about embracing rigor. A deadly, political enemy is staring us coldly in the face. Emotion cannot rule us — but we must keep it and empathy close at hand. On the front line, strategic backbone is required.
We will leave Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons suspended for the moment, as AOC searches for other commentary that distills this moment that is as rigorously political as it is artistic and fashion-brand devoted. To b continued . . . Anne
