Kylie Jenner Fronts Acne Studios True Grit Woman Campaign by Carlijn Jacobs

Stockholm-based fashion brand Acne Studios [IG] sees double in its Fall Winter 2023 denim campaign. Put Kylie Jenner [IG] and her 399M IG followers in the campaign mix; hire Dutch photographer and director Carlijn Jacobs [IG], schedule the meet up in Los Angeles and let the good times roll.

Rose Grandquist and Mackenzie Grandquist are in charge of styling, with Jesus Guerrero responsible for the oily, wet-hair look. Make-up artistry by Ariel Tejada and Masaé Ito give Kylie that dirtied-up look that can have such visual appeal on a sexy woman.

Otherwise, Kylie’s a rebel at heart. As much as we respect her enormous talents in multiple business and mothering sectors, rebel status doesn’t come to mind.

Jacobs explains the double-trouble pleasure of having Karlie in the campaign. “The campaign sought to showcase Kylie as a woman who is in control, has love for herself and is unafraid to embrace her desires,” Jacobs said in a statement. “I aimed to celebrate her individuality by doubling her. She loves herself and is not afraid to show it.”

Speaking about the project, Jenner said in a separate press release: “I love the organic relationship I’ve built with Acne Studios. I am a fan of the brand and I’ve worn their product over the past few years. This campaign is one of my favourites. I loved working with Carlijn and I love the simplicity of the images, they have strength in their directness.”

It’s obvious that Kylie and Carlijn did get on well together. Anne looks at a lot of images and Jacobs definitely captures a side of Jenner that we haven’t seen before. And if Kylie’s the best faker on the planet, the whole team did one hell of a job.

The images center on the Super Baggy Fit Jean – 2023, a unisex style with an exaggerated silhouette. The 100 percent cotton jean is available in two washes—mid blue detailed with fading and smudging and mid blue with a waxy oil coating.

Elsewhere, the campaign goes back in time, presenting the “2021,” a mid-rise pair with generous wide legs.

The product is exciting, and AOC loves the washes and cuts. It does bother us that there’s no sustainability info at all about the collection for a brand that devotes major focus on it website to its environmental footprint report card. And we went to Rivet magazine to learn more about the materials.

While it’s called 100% cotton, the probability is high that the cotton is organic. We find no info about the finishes, including the waxy, oiled effects which are fantastic. So are the oversized-workwear, genderless, baggy fits.

Reading the Acne Studios’ new sustainability report, which includes very specific information on its denim made in Italy, the report says that in FW22, 70% of the 5-pocket denim had 70% low-impact. I just wish that if these fantastic finishes are in the 70%, that someone would tell us in the product info.

Kylie actually emotes more than Kendall as a model — except for Kendall’s wonderful recent WSJ Magazine fashion story, lensed by Sean Thomas. Kylie’s always visually sensual, even covered with grit.

This week’s news is that Kylie Jenner and ‘Wonka’ actor Timothée Chalamet are enjoying their ‘fun and uncomplicated’ relationship and have gone public about it — while Travis Scott calls out Chalamet in his song ‘Meltdown’, challenging Kylie to “find another flame hot as me, bitch” on his new album ‘Utopia’.
