Valentino Couture Kisses Born in Rosso Lipstick Campaign by Felicity Ingram
/Mariacarla Boscono reflected on her longtime relationship with the House of Valentino and Mr. Valentino [Garavani] in A Magazine No20, curated by current Valentino creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli in December 2019.
I call him Mr. Valentino – I’ve always called him that. For me, he’s one of the biggest couture designers. He’s the real deal.
We’ve known each other for really long, since I was 14 and started doing his fittings in Rome. I remember he once said to me, ‘Oh, Mariacarla. You look like a hanger.’ I was like, ‘Excuse me, Monsieur!’ And he was like, ‘In a good way of course. Whatever I put on you, it looks fabulous!’
Boscono continued:
Everything was so lovely. He used the same great old seamstresses from the Roman atelier and would bring them all to Paris for the shows – it’s the same now with Piccioli. It’s a big family, a glamorous couture major family.
Valentino Couture comes alive in the new Rosso Valentino lipstick Born in Rosso campaign. Boscono joins femme forces with Charlie Groddeck, Jeanne Zheng, Jill Kortleve, Malika Louback and Benedetta Piccioli, the designer’s daughter.
Valentino Beauty Is Young and Vivacious
Valentino Beauty’s inaugural launch happened a year ago, arriving in America on July 1, 2021. Benedetta covered 10 Magazine No. 67 while her father expressed his thoughts on the relevance of beauty.
“Emotions, dreams and individuality are as important, if not more, as any other feature,” says Pierpaolo Piccioli on his first foray into make-up. “Beauty is directly connected to the intensity of our feelings. The more we love, the more we are connected to our true self, the more it shows and glows on the outside.”
The synergy between Valentino Couture and Valentino Beauty is expressed in the new Born in Rosso campaign, lensed by Felicity Ingram [IG]. The models pose in front of mannequins draped in red haute couture designs from the Maison’s archives.
Masato Riesser [IG] directs the short film.
