Candice Swanepoel Makes Sustainability Blazing-Hot Sexy in Tropic of C Drop

AOC has never been one to foment snarky, little competitions among women. For sure, we come from the “it takes a village” pov about most things in life. There are so many models doing swimwear collections that we can hardly keep up with them

Even Naomi Osaka is making her swim debut with her Frankies Bikinis X Naomi Osaka collection droppping May 10. And former VS Angel Alessandra Ambrosio — from the same lingerie glam university as Candice Swanepoel dropped new styles in her GAL Floripa swimwear brand midweek.

Into this overflowing abundance of brains, talent and beauty saunters Candice Swanepoel with her new Tropic of C ‘Verano Caliente’ drop, leaving us shellshocked.

Move over Giselle Bundchen, because this South African woman born in Mooi River, KwaZulu-Natal province is rocking Rio. I haven’t seen Candice Swanepoel with this self-expression on her face since Russell James photographed her for his 2014 book featuring the most exquisite and sensual images of the Victoria’s Secret women ever produced

Eco-warrior, top designer Gabriela Hearst was interviewed recently with the headline that she’s working to ‘Make Sustainability Sexy’. Hearst did not have Candice Swanepoel’s Tropic of C in mind.

Hearst meant, of course, that design had to embrace sustainability as a lively, beautiful, good-energy, Gaia-sensuality inducing project. Not many designers/businesswomen can pull off what Candice Swanepoel has produced in this earth-scorching set of swimwear images, which also allow her to add the hashtag #sustainable swim. Bravo, Candice. She’s writing about regenerated nylon, while the rest of us appreciate her sensual beauty. Candice says: “This is how we do it, people.”

I will add that Lais Ribeiro also has some fab shots in the new Tropic of C swimwear drop, which we will post separately. From start to finish Ms. Candice Swanepoel’s brainiac vision for Tropic of C gets a #10 on every front from AOC. And her friendly competitors would be well-served to consider everything that Candice is doing right — including making sustainability sexy. Read more about Tropic of C’s evolving commitment to sustainability including Candice’s recent use of Econyl. That’s the regenerative nylon she’s talking about.

Frequent Tropic of C photographer Eduardo Bravin [IG] is behind the lens in Tulum, Mexico.
