Sydney Sweeney Joins Armani Beauty As Face of 'My Way' Sustainable Fragrance
/‘The White Lotus and ‘Euphoria’ actor Sydney Sweeney, who also played in ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’, is the new face of the ‘My Way’ fragrance collection from Armani Beauty.
‘My Way’ is a great name for the fragrance, which made its first debut in 2020 and has evolved into a larger platform. ‘My Way Intense’ made its debut in 2021 and ‘My Way Floral’ in 2022.
The story of the My Way journey to market is deeply rooted in the sustainability values of the younger generation, many of their boomer grandparents and conscientious consumers of every age.
Photographer Dario Catellani [IG] photographs the campaign. The Italian visionary is known for his deep attachment to nature — beautifully expressed in the Etro FW 2020/21 ‘We Are All One’ Campaign.
The MY WAY blue marble bottle cap is a talisman created to encapsulate all the encounters that matter, wherever we global vagabonds travel in the world.
Just yesterday AOC wrote a major tribute to Egyptian sculptor, the late Adam Henein, noting that his young life was a great symbol to all of us of what an open intellectual mind can achieve. Clearly, the sculptor was curious, open-minded and deeply authentic as a product of thousands of years of Egyptian culure.
As Henein became a man of the world, his artistic spirit and artisan talent achieved true greatness in the world of art. His talent was the evolution of all the cultural and religious influences in Egyptian history — processed ultimately through his own unique and authentic values and artistic vision.
With ‘My Way’ Armani Beauty seeks to tap into that same global, inquisitive, respectful of many global histories and religions and what can be achieved when we work together in a modern world, with each of us respecting multiple cultures and inspirations, while we are also influenced by them as expressed in our own values, creativity and style.
The ingredients in ‘My Way Floral’ are intoxicating, sustainable and global. Armani Beauty writes:
Created for the open-minded, curious, and authentic woman who is ready to broaden her horizons, the elegant fragrance sources three key ingredients from around the world: the orange blossom extracted from hand-picked bitter orange fruits in Egypt; the Indian tuberose flower sourced and handpicked near Mysore, India; and vanilla sourced through a responsible program designed to support local communities in Madagascar.
The majestic freshness of Iris Pallida from France has been added to the My Way Floral formulation, as a heart note. Amplifying these notes is Ambrette, a warm and sensual scent with musky facets, obtained from the seeds of the hibiscus plant.
Underlining Giorgio Armani’s commitment to the environment, the MY WAY bottle has been designed to be reused and to last. The flacon has an innovative refill system that is simple and clean to use, as there is no funnel.
It means the original bottle can be refilled without losing a single drop of perfume or the risk of any spillage onto the hands. Between them, compared to using four 50ml flacons, one 50ml MY WAY bottle and its 150ml refill enable reductions of:
The glass in both the bottle and its refill are recyclable, as are all the elements of the vaporizer, which can be recycled separately.
With its recyclable flacon and its use of recycled materials, MY WAY supports the move to a more circular economy and gives consumers the chance to make an informed choice in favor of the environment.
Aside from the product itself, Armani Beauty aims to reduce its environmental impact by firmly establishing sustainability in the design of the materials used at its points of sale and by its distributors. This includes the use of paper and cardboard that are certified as being sourced from sustainable forests (FSC/PEFC), along with the use of recycled materials and the reduction of energy consumption.
Reading more information about Armani Beauty on the L’Oreal website — L’Oreal holds the beauty license — claims and certifications about sustainability are monitored and validated by the Sustainable Product Optimization Tool (SPOT) developed in 2013 to measure social and environmental impacts.
Based on 14 key sustainability criteria, it covers the entire process from production to the end of the life cycle, including the purchase of raw materials and the product’s use by the consumer.
Carbon Neutrality
It’s exciting to read about another fragrance created with sustainability values in mind. Armani Beauty proudly shares how its commitment to sustainability have impacted the creation of ‘My Way’.
Giorgio Armani is committed to forest preservation programs in Madagascar, Zimbabwe, Peru & Brazil. More than 14 000 hectares of primary forest were preserved since My Way launch to reduce its environmental footprint and preserve biodiversity.
As a result of both eco-conception and biodiversity programs, My Way achieves carbon neutrality.
Whenever Anne of Carversville writes in-depth about a brand, we always check its stated-to-consumers positions and goals on sustainability, weaving them into our narratives. The Armani Beauty ‘My Way’ pages share that information.
We are a small band of humans trying our best to convey to readers our observations about brands and their values — particularly around sustainability.
There’s not one sustainability expert on AOC’s team, but Anne has had major responsibility in product design and development and understands these challenges from both the consumers’ and manufacturers’ perspectives. We do our best. ~ AOC
