A life truism is that for every action, there is a reaction. Anna Ewers is a salmon running against the stream, rejecting the modeling rulebook that says growing a big social media following is essential for success. Writing about Anna's relationship with Instagram & Twitter in 2016, not much has changed. Vogue UK noted in January 2018 in Anna Ewers Fact File, that Ewers' still only has about 300,000 followers on Instagram. 

Anna Ewers Stays Private & Mysterious

Ewers held nine Vogue covers in her portfolio as of May 2016. and was voted Model of the Year by industry experts who chose the 23-year-old German model over Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid. With Ewers having an 'old-school' 160,000 Instagram followers in 2016 versus a combined 67 million for Jenner and Hadid, 'old-school' isn't dead yet. 

Anna was discovered by Alexander Wang and walked her first runway show for Balenciaga's fall/winter 2013 show. Her rise has been steady ever since, with frequent comparisons to a young Brigitte Bardot and Claudia Schiffer.

“If I put makeup on and take pictures, then yes I look like her [Bardot]. But I’m very honoured to be compared with her,” she said. However, she thinks that without the production she looks “cleaner and androgynous” as she once told Harper's Bazaar.

Kate Moss Is Anna Ewers' Fashion Icon

In a 2016 interview with The Independent, Anna praised both the fashion industry's gender fluid and plus-size movements. “I think it’s great. It’s great to have a little bit more diversity,” she told The Independent. And would even happily pose for a menswear shoot just like Jaden Smith did for Louis Vuitton’s womenswear campaign. “Yes, of course. Why not.”

Like Cara Delevigne, Anna Ewers counts Kate Moss as her fashion icon, underscoring that Moss isn't a social media superstar either. "She's never given a lot of interviews. She stays so mysterious. Nobody knows who she is, really."
