Marilyn Minter, Miley Cyrus & Marc Jacobs Join Forces For Planned Parenthood New York City

A special surprise came with the announcement that Marilyn Minter had been working with Miley Cyrus and Marc Jacobs in an entirely new art project to benefit the organization Planned Parenthood of New York.

In March, the Minter/Cyrus duo met to create a steamy photo entitled 'Miley' (2016). The limited-edition print of 50 is face-mounted on UV Plexiglass, signed by creators, and sold through Artsy for $5,500 with the proceeds benefitting Planned Parenthood.

Designer Marc Jacobs joined the fundraiser, releasing two different limited-edition T-shirts for men and women for $50 -- 'Miley Hearts Planned Parenthood'. The shirts are available at MarcJacobs.com and in select boutiques.

'Eclipsed' Tony-Nominated Danai Gurira Joins The Edit's The New Hollywood Lineup

'Eclipsed' Tony-Nominated Danai Gurira Joins The Edit's The New Hollywood Lineup

Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele joins stylist Tracy Taylor for The Edit's May 12 issue with its focus on 'The New Hollywood'. Photographer Bjorn Iooss flashes six creatives including Gillian Jacobs, Sonoya Mizuno, Elizabeth Debicki, Meera Menon, Ellie Bamber, and Danai Gurira in the all-Gucci feature.

Of special interest to AOC readers is Danai Gurira, a Zimbabwean actress and playright, who has mounted Broadway's first-ever all-female, women of color production called 'Eclipsed'. Our beloved muse Lupita Nyong'o is quoted by The Edit, describing Danai:

“In Eclipsed, Danai exposed the true pain of war. Performing it has been one of the most emotionally exhausting and rewarding experiences of my life. I thank the brilliant Danai for writing such an essential, powerful, funny and moving story, which forces me to dig down to my core every night.”

U2's Bono joined 'The Walking Dead' actor and 'Eclipsed' playwright, who also serves as an ambassador of the ONE Campaign, an organization he co-founded. The human rights activist was introduced by Lupita Nyong'o:

"We’ve asked (Bono) to join us today to launch our effort to bring direct attention to the challenges faced by millions of girls all over the world living under the tyranny of war, in poverty and being denied their human rights simply because they are female," Nyong'o told Saturday's audience. "From here on out, each performance will be dedicated to specific girls from around the world who have been kidnapped and are still missing."

Kim Basinger Fronts 'Strong Suit' Lensed By David Bellemere For The Edit Magazine

Kim Basinger Fronts 'Strong Suit' Lensed By David Bellemere For The Edit Magazine AOC Fashion & Style

Actor and activist Kim Basinger reflects with The Edit on her 2002 public, very nasty divorce from Alex Baldwin, her daughter Ireland, and her role as Christian Grey's former lover in 'Fifty Shades Darker. '

In AOC Women's News, Basinger does an in-depth on her strong role as a dominatrix in the sequel to 'Fifty Shades of Grey' and we share one of the sexiest scenes in movie history -- the food scene from Basinger and Mickey Rourke's "Nine and A Half Weeks'.

Kim Basinger's Victories For Whales

Basinger has a long history of fighting for whales, joining the long list of activists and celebrities demanding that SeaWorld phase out its program of captive orcas for public display. SeaWorld announced last month that it's ending its program and will not breed any further orca whales.

PETA demanded this week that the remaining orcas be moved to sea sanctuaries, similar to the one used to reintroduce Keiko, the orca made famous in 'Free Willy', from captivity to ocean waters. The LA Times reports:

But SeaWorld officials said in a statement that the discussion is a non-starter. Given the ages of the animals, the length of time they've spent with humans and the relationships they've formed with other whales, SeaWorld said transporting the orcas to sea pens would do more harm than good.
