Christy meets with C Magazine at the New York City headquarters of Every Mother Counts, the non-profit organization Turlington Burns founded in 2010. Gracing more than 1,000 magazine covers for more than three decades is a part of her legacy, but Turlington Burns has a different primary purpose now. “Running an organization and raising a family forces you to prioritize. You can’t do everything at the same time,” she says. “Someone once told me, ‘You have to sequence.’ So, for me, that means family, EMC, and I guess I take the last sliver!”
The organization has raised more than $21 million, and has expanded its grant portfolio to include Bangladesh, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Tanzania, Uganda and the United States. And while maternal mortality has dropped worldwide, according to UNICEF, from 532,000 in 1990 to 303,000 in 2015, the rate of maternal mortality in America is rising, as analyzed by the Global Burden of Disease. It’s widely believed that much of this change is being driven by Republican policies determined to close down Planned Parenthood, often the only women’s health clinic in poor areas of America. Texas, for example, now has the maternal death rate of a third world country.

Star actor Jennifer Lawrence showcases Maria Grazia Chiuri’s equestrian cruise 2018 collection for Dior. Photographer Viviane Sassen is behind the lens, as Dior sets the scene:
“In a barren landscape, where the architectural lines of concrete walls are warmed by the colors of the desert, Jennifer Lawrence is the embodiment of liberated femininity, dressed in cruise 2019. Inspired by the escaramuzas, the Creative Director of the House, Maria Grazia Chiuri, designed feminine silhouettes whose dresses and petticoats embellished with traditional embroidery evoke the gracious and powerful discipline of these Mexican horsewomen. Toile de Jouy, modernized with a series of wild animals, also plays a key role in the collection. Its motifs appear on coats, skirts and the Dior Book Tote bag. To complete this equestrian look, the Saddle bag with its iconic curves is reinvented in patchwork or Dior Oblique canvas.“

Rising model Kaia Gerber covers the October 2018 issue of Vogue Paris, getting two beauty treatments by artist Mark Carrasquillo. On the left, Kaia wears a subtle, minimal makeup look that vamps into high gear with blue metallic eyeshadow, a high-gloss red lip, and intense bright beauty.
"FROM DAY TO NIGHT: a star is born, in @KaiaGerber, the cover star of our October issue dedicated to night lovers everywhere," the Vogue Paris captioned the post. The duality theme in Kaia’s hair played off her over-the-top glam, styled in a windswept blowout. To finish off the cover look Kaia wears a single diamond drop earring on the made-up side and no jewelry at all on the natural one.

Vogue Edward-in-Chief Edward Enninful packs up elegant silhouettes from recent couture shows, recreating an ode to the British invasion of New York in the 1960s, lensed by Inez & Vinoodh.
Enninful muses that because Fran is a “proper beauty with universal appeal, there were actual gasps from onlookers as I walked her through the streets in her Dior gown. Literally, the crowds parted, taxis stopped, horns honked and the whole world seemed to stop and stare. She had arrived. It was, as we say in fashion, “a moment”.
