Tippi Hedren Plays Fortune Teller In Gucci 2018 Timepieces + Jewelry Campaign

Tippi Hedren Plays Fortune Teller In Gucci 2018 Timepieces + Jewelry Campaign

Gucci assembles a fantastic cast starring actor Tippi Hedren, age 88, playing a fortune teller to models Emily Unkles, Tex Santos Shaw, Tom Atton Moore and Victoria Schons in the brand's 2018 Timepieces + Jewelry campaign.  While reading a gold crystal ball, Hedren wears several layered gold bangles and bracelets along with the brand's snake-inspired rings. She also wears an Alessandro Michele-designed Gucci print dress.

Before becoming a Hollywood actress (now many of us use the word 'actor'), working with Hitchcock, Hedren was a successful fashion model. She is the mother of Melanie Griffith and grandmother of Dakota Johnson, who previously starred in a campaign for Gucci's Bloom, fragrance and is known to be a good friend of Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele.

Tippi Hedren is an original #MeToo, Time's Up girl, walking away from Alfred Hitchcock after making two films -- 'The Birds' and 'Marnie' -- with the famous director.

Before becoming a Hollywood actress, working with Hitchcock in 1962-64, Hedren was a successful fashion model throughout the 1950s.

Simply stated, Hitchcock was obsessed with Tippi Hedren, and if he couldn't have her (yes, he was married) no one would. Note that Hendren never sent mixed signals to Hitchcock, and his brutal treatment of her was known in Hollywood. When the actor walked away to save herself and her sanity, after Hitchcock assaulted her and stalked her, it was clear that Hitchcock's admonishment that she would never work again in Hollywood was true.

Allure Acknowledges Dearth Of Asian Cover Models With Fei Fei, Fernanda & Soo Joo On June 2018 Issue

Allure Magazine joins the movement towards a more inclusive perspective with its June 2018 issue with a focus on Asian models. In her editor’s letter and a series of tweets, Allure editor-in-chief Michelle Lee explained her personal motivations to include an all Asian cast for this month’s cover with a moment of reflection and an understanding that numbers mean more than empty words. Our decision to feature three Asian women got me thinking about when the last time was that Allure had an Asian woman on the cover, Lee explained before stating some pretty incredible facts. In 327 issues and over 28 years, there had only been two Asian women on the cover: Lucy Liu in 2000 and Olivia Munn, who’s part Chinese, in 2014. Not. good!

Photographer Sølve Sundsbø captures animated cover portraits of Fei Fei Sun, Fernanda Ly, and Soo Joo Park, styled by Beat Bollinger and all inspiring major hair envy. The Brazilian brand tapped Adriana Lima — who was born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil — for its new “Because” campaign, which is inspired by Brazil's South American heritage as well as strong women who follow their gut instincts.

“To be part of Schutz’s new campaign is very personal as I’ve been a fan of the brand from a young age,” the 36-year-old Victoria’s Secret Angel shared. “I am proud to represent the confidence, charisma and independence for which Brazil is so known.”

Adwoa Aboah Named One Of 10 Next Generation Leaders By TIME Magazine

Adwoa Aboah Named One Of 10 Next Generation Leaders By TIME Magazine

Activist and model Adwoa Aboah is one of 10 rising activists, artists and athletes covering TIME Magazine as Next Generation Leaders, just another major achievement for a hard-working young woman with plenty of talent, a strong individualist bent, and a commitment to women and girls worldwide.

Growing up in London, Aboah, whose father is Ghanian, says she thought the fashion industry “had no room” for girls like her. Now she’s redefining what’s in vogue. “I put so many limitations on myself,” Adwoa says. “Now I set absolutely no boundaries.”  Reality is that Aboah was right about the fashion industry, but today she is a leader in change so pervasive, that I can't imagine turning back the clock to fashion models being primarily a white girls club. Of course, I never believed America would elect Donald Trump president either, so what do I know!!!

AOC has narrated Aboah's personal history multiple times. What we love the most about her is her activism and fierce feminism. TIME writes:

Level Up Inspires Men To Send Snaps To London Sun's Annual Best 'Bust In Britain' Competition

Level Up Inspires Men To Send Snaps To London Sun's Annual Best 'Bust In Britain' Competition

Level Up, a feminist organization in Great Britain created in 2017 and led by Carys Afoko, has a clever response to the Sun's annual 'Bust in Britain' competition: no marches; no rants; no lectures. Reading the Sun ground rules and realizing there are no gender restrictions, Afoko had a light bulb moment.

“It is such an old-fashioned idea of beauty they are promoting. They say they are looking for the best breasts. But actually what they mean is - if you’re skinny, if you’re white, if you’re young and if you’ve got big boobs. Then you’re beautiful,” says Afoko. “Let’s bring the Sun’s competition into the 21st century.”

By encouraging men and non-binary people to take snaps for the competition and getting worldwide press in the process, Afoko hopes that a man might actually win in 2018. It is interesting that many of the men struggled with taking a “sexy” selfie, Afoko says. “They got very self conscious and felt exposed. It took a few conversations to get them to do it. We were seeing men feel like they are an object, like women do.”

Ellen Von Unwerth's 'Ladyland' London Exhibit Inspires A Decade Of Her Archives At AOC

Photographer Ellen Von Unwerth has not veered ever away from her style of capturing multidimensional women through a lens of unbridled sexuality, sensuality and freshness. EVY's women are free spirits today, just as Claudia Schiffer revealed in her landmark 1990 Guess campaign.

EVU's understanding of women is on display as part of her first London retrospective, 'Ladyland', on view at the Opera Gallery.

Having been a model herself, von Unwerth was fed up, not so much with the proverbial male gaze, but with her own lack of creative freedom and self-expression.

“I’ve always loved to portray women who are strong, who are playful, who are self-assured, and who really own their sexuality, which is why I love working with Claudia, and Naomi, and all those girls,” she explains. “But then something I always come back to is fragility. I look for that in the women I shoot, too. I don’t want to objectify women, or cast them only in this ‘sexy’ light. I want to see every side of them. There are so many sides to women. That’s why some of my best shots come when the girls think the camera has stopped rolling, you’re seeing something different to what they give you when they know they're being watched, a vulnerability.”

'Frida's Parlour' Opens In London Until June 16, 2018, Landmark Frida Kahlo Exhibition At V&A Follows

If you just happen to be dropping into London this weekend -- or anytime between May 19-June 16, 2018 take a stroll over to 141 Ebury Street and Frida's Parlour.

Launched to coincide with Belgravia in Bloom, a week-long floral festival held across the district, as well as with the V&A’s landmark Frida Kahlo exhibition, the Parlour will serve as a social space throughout the day, with free entry for all visitors. During the evenings, the venue will play host to a series of hands-on evening workshops inspired by Kahlo’s unique style (booking essential here). Try your hand at floral embroidery with Lora Avedian, mix a Mexican cocktail with the Cubitt House team or craft your own jewellery with Luminaire Arts.

Bowing to the need for a selfie, visitors can snap away inside the Wallpaper Room. The first 50 guests will receive a limited-edition tote bag designed by the artist Zabou, whose mural depicting the artist can be seen in Belgravia’s Eccleston Yards. via Town & Country UK

We're looking for the specific Zabou mentioned, but in fact Zabou has enjoyed a love affair with Frida Kahlo for some time. In these images, Zabou teams up with Mexican yarn artist Villana for some great Frida street art.

Kaia Gerber Shows Off Three New Omega's Trésor Watches, Tells Fans To Make Her Earn Being A Supermodel

Kaia Gerber Shows Off Three New Omega's Trésor Watches, Tells Fans To Make Her Earn Being A Supermodel

Fast-rising model Kaia Gerber, daughter of Cindy Crawford,  recently introduced three new models for Omega's Trésor timepiece collection. Kaia joined her family at a September 2017 'Her Time' event in Paris, for her debut as an official Omega ambassador, and now she is hard at work for the brand. SCMP features the new collection.

Crawford has raised a smart daughter, as Kaia dismisses the claim that she is a supermodel in an interview at the Berlin event with Marie Claire UK. The very idea of Kaia achieving supermodel status takes grade inflation to an entirely new level, yet media calls every model today a supermodel.  You get a magazine cover, you're now a supermodel. Kaia says that's wrong.
