Bruno Sialelli Launches Pure Artistry In Lanvin's Fall 2019 Campaign Lensed By Glen Luchford

Bruno Sialelli Launches Pure Artistry In Lanvin's Fall 2019 Campaign Lensed By Glen Luchford

Lanvin strikes a creative bulleye, channeling ancient fashion artistry with a thoroughly modern attitude in its Fall 2019 campaign. Lanvin’s first campaign under Bruno Sialelli’s creative direction resonates with a whiff of Gucci but no camp. It’s a palate cleanser in a world confused and ready to regurgitate, while holding onto old moorings in a world of dissonance and tribulations.

Sobriety never looked so beautiful, and youthful wisdom is in the air, expressed by Sara Grace Wallerstedt, Kat Carter, Freek Iven, Yashitela and Jeranimo Van Russel. Carlos Nazario styles the ensemble in images by Glen Luchford. / Makeup by Lucia Pieroni; hair by Paul Hanlon

Bouchra Jarrar Takes Helm of Lanvin As Artistic Director Of Women's Collections

Lanvin, the oldest couture house to continually exist in Paris, confirmed Bouchra Jarrar as its new artistic director, following the October 2016 departure of Alber Elbaz. Jarrar has worked at Jean Paul Gaultier, been studio director for Nicolas Ghesquiere at Balenciaga and served as head of couture at Christian Lacroix, along with launching her own house in 2010. Jarrar will start on Monday. The designer is known for putting "quality and technical finesse ahead of razzmatazz", along with her love of minimal, streamlined sportswear.

"Her timeless style is in keeping with the style and values of our company," Lanvin chief executive officer Michèle Huiban said in a statement today. "Her talent, her high standards and her mastery of cuts and fabrics will bring a breath of freshness and modernity into the house, while respecting its soul as the oldest Paris couture house, a symbol of French elegance."

According to Ms. Huiban, who spoke to the New York Times from Paris: “Bouchra seemed a natural for our house, founded by a woman. I felt an immediate and very true connection when we met.”

In a phone call, Ms. Jarrar said, “I am honored to be part of the extraordinary history of the house, and all the great creators who came before me.” Jarrar will close her own brand to "devote herself to Lanvin." In an internal memo seen by the New York Times, the new head of Lanvin said: “My wish is to bring to Lanvin harmony and coherence of a world for women, a world of our time. I rejoice in being part of this beautiful chapter in the life of the house with all its teams.”

Lanvin Pub Ete Summer 2014 Ad Campaign By Steven Meisel

Lanvin launches a unique campaign video in which we only hear softly-spoken, sensual words.

A discussion in a room that lacks time, place, context and meaning. Very black and white but in total colour. What are they talking about?

Well, it does seem that the discussion in pub-related, executed with the deft eye of Steven Meisel.

Eye | Alber Elbaz Says Designers Are Like Nuns | American Nuns on Real Life

Alber Elbaz At London Vogue’s April 28 Festival

Smart Sensuality designer — and creative director of Lanvin — Alber Elbaz hopes to convince the public that fashion designers aren’t really kingpins, when he talks at the London’s second Vogue Festival on April 28, organized by British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman in association with Vertu.

Tell that to Karl Lagerfeld, my dear designer and true lover of women!

“Maybe they think that a designer is living a very glamorous life and they start their day not with coffee, but Champagne,” he said. “Trust me, it’s coffee. The designers, photographers and models that I work with, they are hard-working people who devote their lives to fashion. They’re kind of like nuns of fashion.”

Albers continued in a recent interview with London’s The Independent:

“Everybody thinks that because it’s luxury it should be very intimidating; you go into the store and it should look like a pharmacy,” he told The Independent. “But guess what? We’re not buying Tylenol! We’re buying a red bag, a diamond shoe and a printed dress, so I think that we should have a little lightness and be a little less strict about everything. If you come to a pharmacy and everything is arranged, then you don’t want to touch it. I don’t want people to be intimidated.”

What a fresh voice in a muddle of frequently self-absorbed people!

Tom Craig’s Louis Vuitton Photography Exhibit

In conjunction with the festival, Louis Vuitton will host a Tom Craig and Bay Garnett photography exhibition ‘All Four Corners’, held at the Bond Street store’s private apartment. Craig will showcase a collection of Vogue imagery including Rachel Weisz and Stella Tennant.

Isabella Rossellini by Annie Leibovitz

Bulgari is launching a line of Isabella Rossellini bags.

The relationship between Rossellini and Leibovitz dates back to 1986, when the actress was famously photographed with director David Lynch, who appeared almost entirely covered by a black turtleneck. In both the Bulgari image previewed by WWD and in that first iconic Leibovitz photo, Rossellini wears a dark sleeveless dress with one shoulder strap down.
