Iris Apfel is known for being blunt. For example, when asked by Fashionista about dressing for your age, she responded: "I think that's stupid," Apfel says about the phrase. "I think [designers are] all entirely too youth-oriented. I think a lot of designers create very expensive clothes for women [in their] 60s and 70s — people who wear them — and they create them for 16- and 18-year-old bodies. The kids can't afford to buy them and the women look like a horse's ass if they put it on. So it's all out of whack."

Listen up, designers! Apfel sat down with T Magazine's Deborah Needleman in 2013.

Updated: Murphy Will Resign | Married PA Rep. Tim Murphy (R), Anti-Abortion Zealot, Advised Mistress To Seek Abortion

There is no disputing the fact that Pennsylvania Republican Rep. Tim Murphy engaged in an extramarital affair with Pittsburgh forensic psychologist Shannon Edwards. The husband of Shannon Edwards sought to depose Murphy in his own divorce action.

Today the Pittsburgh Gazette dropped a new bombshell about Murphy, in regard to his response to a text from Edwards taking him to task for an anti-abortion statement posted on his public Facebook page.

"And you have zero issue posting your pro-life stance all over the place when you had no issue asking me to abort our unborn child just last week when we thought that was one of the options," Shannon Edwards, a forensic psychologist in Pittsburgh with whom the congressman admitted last month to having a relationship, wrote to Mr. Murphy on Jan. 25, in the midst of an unfounded pregnancy scare.

A text from Mr. Murphy’s cell phone number that same day in response says, "I get what you say about my March for life messages. I've never written them. Staff does them. I read them and winced. I told staff don't write any more. I will."

Selena Gomez Covers InStyle US September 2017 Fashion Issue, Lensed By Phil Poynter

Selena Gomez Covers InStyle US September 2017 Fashion Issue, Lensed By Phil Poynter AOC Fashion

Pop superstar Selena Gomez covers the September 2017 fashion issue of InStyle US, styled by Kate Young in Miu Miu, Alexander McQueen, Coach 1941, Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana. Fashion photographer Phil Poynter flashes Gomez, who is interviewed by Laura Brown, who describes Gomez:

Gomez has a particularly potent power: Her celebrity comes not just from what she creates, how she looks, and whom she dates but from how she has suffered and how she has picked herself up. She is not a great advocate of the kind of childhood fame she experienced on the Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place. “I think it is really dysfunctional to be in this industry at a young age where you’re figuring out who you are. I don’t recommend it.”

Gomez also talks with joy about her adult relationship -- as opposed to being Justin Bieber's fan girl -- with The Weeknd, who has his own celebrity gaggle on the cover of Harper's Bazaar US's September fashion issue.

Beyoncé As Venus & Virgin Mary Shares Rumi and Sir Carter Pics In World Debut

Beyoncé introduced the world to her new babies, Rumi and Sir Carter, on Instagram at 1am EST July 14, 2017. 5 hours later, the Botticelli-inspired image had 5 million likes, writes Vogue. The twins were one month old. The image was taken by Awol Erizku, who worked previously with David LaChappelle.

In a smile-worthy post, The Guardian's Hadley Freeman writes that Beyoncé is currently on a mission to make Liberace look understated. The new mum is wearing a lavishly ruffled Palomo Spain duster and is presumable photographed at the house she and her family are renting for $400,000 a month. Freeman continues:

Most pleasing of all is the suggestion, from the pose and styling, that she is simultaneously Botticelli’s Venus and the Virgin Mary, but better than the latter because she is holding not one but two babies: the memorably named Rumi and Sir Carter. Has Beyoncé given birth to two messiahs? Look at the photo, people. Images don’t lie.

A native of Evanston, where she graduated from Evanston Township High School in 2008, Harrier said during a  recent Chicago visit that playing a high school kid and Peter Parker's love interest in the new 'Spider-Man' movie “did give me a real sense of deja vu. … Even though we were making a film, a lot of the high school experiences re-created in the movie reminded me of all the mini-dramas kids go through — myself included — back in my own high school days in Evanston.”

Beyoncé Launches Formation Scholars With Four Full 2017/2018 Scholarships For Young Women

Beyoncé used the first anniversary of 'Lemonade', the world's best-selling album in 2016, to launch Formation Scholars -- full college scholarships for four young women -- one for each of the participating institutions: Berklee College of Music, Howard University, Parsons School of Design and Spelman College, her site explains.

"To add to the celebration of the one-year anniversary of Lemonade, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter announces the establishment of Formation Scholars awards for the 2017-2018 academic year, to encourage and support young women who are unafraid to think outside the box and are bold, creative, conscious and confident."

Scholarships may only be used by women for the study of creative arts, music, literature or African-American studies.  The funding is part of the #BeyGOOD initiative, an organization which has in the past provided funding for such causes as those affected by the Flint water crisis and to homeless populations and sick children around the world.

Natalie Portman Channels Demi Moore Pregnancy Photo For Vanity Fair's Hollywood Issue

In what will surely become an iconic photo, a pregnant Natalie Portman channels the 1991 photo of a naked and pregnant Demi Moore, shot for Vanity Fair's August issue. Portman joins Emma Stone, Lupita Nyong’o, Amy Adams, Natalie Portman, Ruth Negga, Dakota Fanning, Elle Fanning, Aja Naomi King, Janelle Monae, Greta Gerwig and Dakota Johnson on the cover of Vanity Fair's March 2017 Hollywood issue, also shot by Annie Leibovitz.

Vanity Fair acknowledges the inspiration, writing that while "the reference is clear, the moment is Portman's alone."

How sad that this cover was shot before the November 21 March for Women. Imagine if we had one or two Pussyhats anchored by those vivid red and pink hues.  Read my new article: Step 2 For Pussyhat Power: How About Yarnbombing America From Sea To Shining Sea?

Lascaux 4, Full-Size Replica Of Ancient Cave Paintings, Opens In Dordogne, France

Lascaux 4, Full-Size Replica Of Ancient Cave Paintings, Opens In Dordogne, France AOC Muse

Often labeled the 'Sistine Chapel of prehistory', France's Lascaux cave paintings may be up to 20,000 years old. Included as a UNESCO world heritage site since 1979, the public has been banned from visiting the Lascaux caves since 1963. The caves were accidentally discovered by a group of boys in 1940, and for a period of time, visitors did tour the site. Archaeologists and art historians then discovered that the amount of carbon dioxide being exhaled by humans caused major damage to the integrity of the paintings, necessitating that they be closed from the general public forever.

In a wonderful gift to the worldwide public, Lascaux 4, a full-size replica of the ancient cave paintings has opened in the Dordogne region of France. The whole Lascaux cave will be the essential part of Montignac-Lascaux Parietal Art international Centre, devoted to using the latest image technology and virtual mediation to recreate the experience of actually walking through the Lascaux caves.
