Oriana Fallaci: The World’s Fearless Journalist

Oriana Fallaci began her illustrious career in journalism in the early 1950s. In short order, her early work as a reporter for the Italian newspaper ‘L'Europeo’ laid the foundation for her reputation as a tenacious, fearless journalist.

Less is known about the early years of her career, the late 1950s, when she was still known as "the girl from the movies" working for ‘L'Europeo’, and this is the focus of ‘Miss Fallaci Takes America’, a joint production of ViacomCBS International Studios [VIS] and Italy’s expanding Minerva Pictures.

"There is nothing more feminist than an independent woman who carries forward her thoughts, her passion and her work": says actor Miriam Leone about her role playing Fallaci in the Vogue Italia interview with Francesca Guys.

The idea for the TV series about the early career of Oriana Falluci grew out of Italian/British writer director Alessandra Gonnella’s short film ‘A Cup of Coffee with Marilyn’, filmed in London in 2019. That short was based on the true story about a young Italian journalist, Oriana Fallaci, chasing Marilyn Monroe for an interview in the 50s. The short film received wide exposure and recognition, especially in Italy where it was awarded the best fiction short film prize in 2020 by the Italian Union of Film Critics.

The TV series ‘Miss Fallaci’ premiered at the 19th Rome Film Festival on October 21, 2024 and is scheduled for a February 25, 2025 release in Italy. Presently, the series is not available for streaming in the US. You can see it on SBS on Demand out of Australia.

Right now, AOC sees no other way to view ‘Miss Fallaci’, which was originally filmed in half English and half Italian. Paramount is no help either.
