American athlete and OMEGA ambassador since 2019, Noah Lyles is one of the fastest sprinters in the world, with an exuberance and drive to succeed that has earned the young athlete from Orlando Florida multiple gold medal wins over 100 and 200 m.

The athlete with serious business aspirations evolving out of his track and field prowess was interviewed by the New York Times days in advance of the 200 meters in the N.Y.C. Grand Prix 2023 last year.

It was the last event heading into the 2024 Olympic Trials two weeks later and Noah Lyles had organized a walk-in with a dress code. “If you’re warming up in it, it’s wrong,” Lyles, an Olympic and world championship medalist, explained to fellow runners about the 30-meters slow walk in advance of the race.

Scrolling through a GQ magazine feature on Instagram, one of the biggest names in track and field noticed that the featured “best outfits worn by professional athletes as they walked into stadiums around the world” had no athletes from track and field.

“Why aren’t there any track and field people in here?” Lyles wondered out loud to NYT writer Talya Minsberg.

“Obviously it’s not happening because we aren’t doing it,” he said, answering his own question. “But why aren’t we doing it?”

Although his idea to put some serious fashion splash into walk-in in advance of his N.Y.C. Grand Prix 2023 race and beyond was gaining serious traction and interest generally, it fizzled for this particular race, which Noah Lyles won.

When we write that the walk-in fizzled, it didn’t drizzle on the guy with the big idea. He made a very big splash, noted by the Times.
