Zimmermann’s Spring 2023 collection is inspired by Wonderland City, a poetic landmark amusement park that was once the largest open air amusement park in the southern hemisphere.

Zimmermann’s creative director Nicky Zimmermann found herself enchanted by the history of the Tamarama beach attraction, which opened in 1906 and closed in 2911.

She enlisted model Lineisy Montero and photographer Benny Horne to inject new life into the history of stylish ruins, in a spring 2023 campaign styled by Romy Frydman. / Hair by James Rowe; makeup by Jodie Boland

The actual campaign photoshoot took place at the Terme Tettuccio spa in Italy’s Montecatini Terme area of thermal spas and hospitals.

Nicky Zimmermann explained that the spring 2023 collection takes Edwardian details from the era of Australia’s original outdoor amusement park, melding them with ideas of the modern Tama beach scene.

“There’s the colour and motifs of the amusement park - the vibrancy of the fairground and the beach used in our art and palette, the rolling lines of the rollercoaster in hemlines and silhouettes,” Zimmermann details in sharing the artistry behind the new collection.
