Actor/director Olivia Wilde has received mixed reviews on her delivery of ‘Don’t Worry Darling’, a movie starring Florence Pugh, set in Trumpian-style, 50’s domesticity — a bit of “The Stepford Wives,” a whole lot of “Mad Men” said reviews.
After loving Wilde’s directorial debut ‘Booksmart’, more than one reviewer said ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ lacked the emotional depth of ‘Booksmart’.
Wilde stood firm after the September 2022 Venice premiere debut of ‘Don’t Worry Darling’, telling Vanity Fair writer Julie Miller:
“No amount of internet bullying can cause me to question my belief in a movie made collectively by so many brilliant people. We worked too hard, and went through too much together, to be derailed by something that really has nothing to do with filmmaking.”
