Michelle Obama's Netflix Food Doc for Kids Is Now 10 Episode 'Waffles + Mochi'

Town and Country Magazine updates readers on every project Barack and Michelle Obama are Producing for Netflix via their Higher Ground Productions. Since launching the company in 2018, they've released three documentaries—Becoming, Crip Camp, and the Oscar-winning American Factory

If you have nostalgia for the Obama White House years, wonderful memories of Michelle Obama’s campaign called Let’s Move and the WHITE HOUSE KITCHEN GARDEN come to mind. Embedded in a wood-and-steel arbor encasing a bluestone slab, the garden’s heavyweight anchor says it was “established 2009 by First Lady Michelle Obama with the hope of growing a healthier nation for our children.”

Right-wingers and companies like DuPont Crop Protection, Monsanto and Dow AgroSciences screamed bloody hell within one week of the garden’s opening — accusing the Obamas of arrogant elitism and driving another nail into the drive among liberals of creating a permanent nanny state.

‘Waffles + Mochi’ on Netflix March 16

AOC was so amused over the title to the Obamas kids’ food documentary Listen to Your Food & Eat Your Parents that we searched for an update on the project. As ALWAYS happens with AOC’s sixth sense, Netflix announced Tuesday that our beloved Michelle Obama is launching a new show on Netflix on March 16 called Waffles + Mochi!

The original 30 minute Netflix documentary has become a 10-episode series, described by Netflix as “the culinary adventure of a lifetime”.

In addition to executive producing “Waffles + Mochi,” Michelle Obama will play the owner/manager of a “whimsical supermarket” with her own cast of puppet allies. They include Busy, a bee puppet; Mochi, a pink round puppet; and Waffles, a furry puppet with waffle ears. All the characters including Michelle hop aboard a magical shopping cart to seek out ingredients all over the world. “Whether they’re picking potatoes in the Andes of Peru, sampling spices in Italy, or making miso in Japan, these curious explorers uncover the wonder of food and discover every meal is a chance to make new friends,” the streaming service says.

Given that the Obamas know half the world, there will be plenty of A-listers dropping into the show. Netflix promises that “renowned chefs, home cooks, kids and celebrities” will all be dropping in.
