'Beale Street' Director Barry Jenkins Is Crazy In Love With Nancy Pelosi's Ravishing Red Max Mara Coat

Barry Jenkins is in the news as Director of ‘If Beale Street Could Talk’, nominated for a 2019 Golden Globe Award for Best Drama Film. Jenkins was also nominated for screenplay, along with Regina King for supporting actress.
Based on James Baldwin’s 1974 novel of the same name, ‘Beale Street’ tells the 70s love story of a young black Harlem couple, Tish and Fonny. Devoted to each other since childhood, the young lovers are torn apart when Fonny is falsely accused and jailed for rape.
In a smile-worthy move, Jenkins had other matters on his mind after Nancy Pelosi’s epic TV performance at the White House Tuesday, when Donald Trump tried to negotiate a budget deal live before the American people. It did not go well for the US president, although Trump’s supporters surely disagree, especially if you like to see Trump constantly interrupting the next Speaker of the House and the most formidable woman in US politics.

Jenkins became obsessed with Pelosi’s stylish, lady boss image leaving the White House, asking on Twitter for the designer of her red coat.
Jenkins retweeted a GIF of Pelosi putting her sunglasses on and walking away, writing, “Has anybody figured what coat this is she’s wearing? I waited to ask this question, let the seriousness of the situation be properly discussed but … That color is LEGIT and we need to know this”
Wednesday morning, Jenkins continued to obsess in a wonderful way about Pelosi’s coat.
“What I love about this coat is what it says about the supposed impotence of fashion,” he tweeted. “From the asymmetrical front to the high collar, the strong yet unstrained shoulder and, of course, that COLOR — a deeply serene yet emphatic & ravishing color. This look kicks soooo much ass.”
Trump’s attire might was surely more like “the greasy wrapper on a Royal Castle Burger; the annoying cellophane on those cheap airline earbuds when you forget yours; a wet napkin.”
Unafraid of blowback from disapproving followers over his limitless support for Pelosi, Jenkins then paid her an ultimate compliment, comparing her to Angela Basset in the 1995 film directed by Forest Whitaker ‘Waiting to Exhale’.
“Ms. Pelosi is shown in full, rhymed with Ms. Basset in WAITING 2 EXHALE. What she wore was so declarative it could not be erased.”
Jenkins concluded his admiration, tweeting this coat is “diplomacy in motion.”
