Private Sitting | Remi Rebillard | 'Lei Che Persevera Vince'
/
Remi Rebillard’s images are emotive, sensual and female-centric. Remi and I have talked at length now about the cultural messages of ‘woman’ that emerge in his photography, snaps that have an art house feel.
What we are seeing isn’t just excellent technique, but psychological connections to the images, sensations that speak to the viewer directly. Aksana, Viktoria, Alexandra, Francis and Alana are oracles, not only models.
Perhaps this is woman talk. I sense that more men than women focus on the technique of pictures and the pure physicality of the woman. When I look at Remi’s images — even without the title ‘Lei Che Persevera Vince’ (‘She who perseveres wins’) I can write the headline — except for the winning part. I’m not so sure about this conclusion, in the global, big-picture sense.
Even though these images are very modern, there is a timeless quality to them. The fight has gone on for thousands of years now and Remi Rebillard has tapped into it with a photographic bullseye.
