Adut Akech Flies To Santorini For Americana Manhasset's Fall/Winter 2018 Campaign #IAMAmericana
/Sudanese-Australian model Adut Akech Bior joins Gabriel-Kane Day Lewis on the Greek island of Santorini for Americana Manhasset's Fall/Winter 2018 campaign. Luxury agency Laspata Decaro captures the campaign for the Long Island North Shore collection of 60 specialty shops that include the world's most famous luxury brands.
An important new addition to the debut of the Fall 2018 Fashion Book is the introduction of a charitable social campaign centered on the hashtag #IAMAmericana. Through a creative combination of voice-overs and visuals, models Adut and Gabriel express who they are as individuals, each on their own odyssey (we invite you to view these videos on our Web site at your leisure). Americana Manhasset will be inviting friends, clients, supporters and fashion partners to snap a photo or video revealing who they are. In turn, we will donate $1 to charity for all such posts when they use the hashtag #IAMAmericana. There will be five benefiting charities representing a range of causes.
Adut Akech made history in July as the second black model to close out the Chanel Haute Couture show as a bride. Akech, 18, spent her early years in a Kenyan refugee camp after fleeing war-torn South Sudan. Now 18, Adut said in an emotional Instagram post after the Chanel show that "no words can express" her pride. "This one's for the dreamers," Adut added.
The last black Chanel bride was British-Sudanese model Alex Wek in 2004.
