The first images of the new VIZOR Vol.1 are in my hands. They are splendid, surpassing the expectations I had watching the brilliantly executed, efficiently delivered with A+ design, video on VIZOR’s website.

VIZOR is a bi-annual New York-based, limited edition publication covering extraordinary artists in the fields of Photography, Design, and Modern Art.

Simply stated, VIZOR magazine makes a very big opening statement, with photographers Douglas Bizzaro and Elizabeth Moss shooting Sveta@IMG at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, a place I know quite well.

Douglas and Elizabeth shot all 30 pages of ‘Afternoon Delight’ in a single day, which is pretty amazing.

Even more incredible is their visually stunning, intimacy drenched statements about man, machine, intimacy, beauty, and America. Based on this opening salvo from VIZOR, I will walk on water to help a publication of this caliber succeed.

The curated focus of our websites is a perfect match for VIZOR. Our own Anne of Carversville mission is to support the photographers and artists first, before models and commercial interests.

I asked VIZOR’s editorial director Jordan Sonek what he hopes to achieve with this dazzling piece of pop culture artwork. Jordan pulled no punches in his answer.

“I was tired of hearing stories from Fashion Photographers about how their editorial shoots were run. There is too much involvement with the standard corporate magazines. The photographers hear: “We must shoot this dress because they’re an advertiser”; “It must be this model for the cover because she’s hot right now, whether you’re inspired by her or not”; “No, I’m sorry if a red dress is what you’re envisioning for this shot; this seasons is all about pastels.”

VIZOR is artist driven, not corporate driven. All concepts and work originate with the artists themselves. I feel that this is the only environment where honest art in fashion can be made. We know that our readers can see the difference.
