Happy Valentine’s Day. If you’re new to Anne of Carversville, I’m an amazingly hip, tolerant — and hopefully thoughtful — woman on gender matters.
On occasion, I must open my mouth in protest. With our commitment to positive attitudes about sex and a global end to violence against women, I find Robert Pattinson’s Details interview totally obnoxious.
Sorry. We all have our moments, and his comments struck a sour note, especially on Eve Ensler’s V-Day, when we’re working against the cutting up of women’s vaginas, because so many men around the world find them disgusting and responsible for the downfall of civilization.
And yes, it’s mom and her friends who do the slicing. I’ve had this conversation with more than one man, and they’re all correct. Women are totally complicit and believe that FGM is all for the good.
Women worldwide are very uncomfortable about the beauty of our vaginas. If men want women to have more sex, help us love our bodies.
