PHOENIX RISING

When I first saw Noirfacade’s Steven Klein images of Natalia Vodianova for the April 2002 i-D, I was in a PHOENIX RISING mood, kicking back against the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.  The Phoenix is a very different kind of birdie from the VS Angels.

Going forward, we will call out editorials present and past, that celebrate the 21st century GODDESS Woman, aka PHOENIX RISING. The Phoenix was actually the national bird of the US until 1841, when it was replaced by an eagle. The entire concept of the Phoenix, an ancient Egyptian mythology, is controversial and associated with a new world order.

The Phoenix comes to earth in Kanye West’s new film ‘Runaway’.
