Born in Finland, now living in Stockholm photographer Jessie Laitinen shares a visually-arresting, symbolism-rich series of images on female identity. Henna Koskinen styles ‘Morsian karkuteillä’ or runaway bride, dressing Anu in the sensually symbolic good girl/bad girl fashion montage that defines women’s lives.
Marriage has declined significantly in Sweden, which is not to suggest that Swedish family units aren’t stable because they are. Many studies point to fewer problems in Sweden’s family units than in America. Swedish women are at the top of the list with other Scandinavian women in terms of their social and political emancipation and guaranteed rights.
