For me, polka dots have always been a timeless fashion staple — they can be dressed up or down, and strike a balance between being classic and modern.”

Whatever her heritage, Karlie Kloss believes 'Good Girl Dot Drama' Fragrance is for everywoman.

Women's lifestyle magazine ‘Godey's Lady's Book’ was the first to use the term polka dot (in reference to a scarf) in its 1857 issue.

Before the term polka dot was coined in America, terms like Dotted-Swiss, ‘quiconce ‘(a French term for the pattern on a five-side of dice), and ‘thalertupfen’ (German word describing the dotted fabric that resembled the country's currency—thaler) were used in mid-19th Century Europe.

As a supermodel, Karlie Kloss has always been an ‘all-American girl’. That very term is a bit harsh on the ears today. Exactly what does it imply — looking like an ‘All American girl’?

Reality is that many cite the 1926 wearing of a polka dot swimsuit as the beginning of fashion’s rage for dots. Minnie Mouse got her infamous dots in 1928, taking dots mainstream.

It’s difficult to imagine polka dots as being subversive but Christian Dior released a bevy of polka dots fashion ‘New Look’ fashion. After a wartime period of shifting gender roles, Dior told Vogue that his collection sought “to make women extravagantly, romantically, eyelash-battingly female” again.  Translated, ‘all American girls’ must give up their jobs and return to being femme fatale homemakers. Elizabeth Taylor, Lucille Ball, and Marilyn Monroe helped advance this vision of Dior’s New Look woman.

Karlie Kloss says 'Good Girl Dot Drama' Fragrance by Carolina Herrera is a perfect fit in the lives of modern women.

In the 2001 movie Legally Blonde, Elle Woods' college counselor famously said, "Harvard won't be impressed that you aced History of Polka Dots". As an attractive, wealthy and popular fashion merchandising student who is president of her Delta Nu sorority, Elle was crushed when her boyfriend Warner Huntington III ends their relationship. Warner explained to the despondent Elle that he needed a more serious woman at his side, given his political aspirations.
