Hans Feurer Takes It To The Streets With Antidote Magazine S/S 2013 Style & Individuality

Patience is not part of my DNA, and yet a few magazines are worth waiting for. ANTIDOTE is one of them and always on my short list of magazines worth reading. Note that I said reading, feeling, exporing — as opposed to looking at digital pictures on online fashion blogs. Creative Director Yann Weber describes ANTIDOTE this way:

Antidote hovers between a book and a fashion magazine, a precious object to be kept collected. Its concept is simple: each issue tells the story of a fashion «object», portraying it through a comprehensive, diversified narrative. The editorial approach blends new dynamics through different articles, stories, portfolios and fashion editorials. An original, timeless tone, an insight into the essence of the addressed topic. An essay of theoretical and practical analysis, experienced as a cultural and psychological experience. Antidote Magazine is designed as a remedy offered to fashion aficionados and culture enthusiasts alike, inviting them to a literary experience. A new way of relating to information, thought and designed to transcend the ephemeral through the eye of an innovative and alive french magazine.

If ANTIDOTE sounds ‘heavy’, it is — with original thinking and CONTEXT!! Slapping down a series of images on a website creates no context, although the images may be lovely to look at and send a message. Words and surrounding articles — as well as editorial images — create context and meaning in a fashion world that often detests thinking or intellectual exploration as being too high brow for words.

I see two camps forming, and ANTIDOTE is a leader in the substance category, leaving me pleased to share exclusively from the source this Hans Feurer editorial. Featured are Daphne Groenveld, Hanna Ben Abdesslem, Catherine McNeil, Zuzanna Bijoch, Valerija Delava, Frida Gustavsson, and Sung Hee Kim taking it to the streets in sophisticated city pieces with verve, styled by Yann Weber.

AOC doesn’t typically post covers, with so many other fashion blogs doing them on rote. Because ANTIDOTE is such a favorite read, we share them after the editorial.

The latest issue of ANTIDOTE features a larger design and premium fabric hardcover. It’s available for pre-order on the website’s E-SHOP. Buy it! Collect it! Support financially the best among our creatives.

Indulge in fashionable thinking — a long lost past-time so important to preserve brain health and the future of civilization. Indeed, fashion has an important place in culture. Support it! xoxo ~ Anne
