Karlie Kloss Goes 'On the Prowl' with Steven Klein in Vogue US March 2013

Karlie Kloss delivers classic fashion drama in ‘On the Prowl’ for Vogue’s March issue. Steven Klein is behind the lens, as Kloss tames the beast. I thought perhaps the tiger was dropped into the set but it may be for real, styled in by Camilla Nickerson.

Given the complexity of life for tigers on our planet — and their road to extinction in many countries — making fashion pets of tigers is — well, not cool, in the hearts and minds of many fashionable people. But it’s very Vogue and part of the modern values say that says man rules all of nature. Karlie Kloss definitely shows this tiger who’s boss.

The way AOC handles wild beasts as fashion pets is to publish the editorial but also use it as an opportunity to tell the animal’s story. In 2010 the World Wildlife Fund estimated that only about 3.200 tigers remain in the wild, compared to 100,000 a century ago. Experts estimate that tigers will disappear by 2022. Currently, the Caspain tiger, the Javan tiger and not the Bali tiger are extinct. Read more about tigers at the World Wildlife Fund. ~ Anne
