Having just looked at another Andrew Akimov editorial ‘Lunacy’, it seems reasonable to say that the Russian photographer doesn’t shy away from life’s core themes of struggle. Others may see a rare and unique beauty in these images, but I see feminine values and sensuality struggling to survive in today’s world. I do believe in the rise of the phoenix, but forces are aligned against her. Anastasia Abrosimova washes ashore as if a dying siren or mermaid, styled by Elnura Badalova. Can we save her? I don’t know.~ Anne
