Joe Biden and Kamala Harris Assume Leadership of USA

The Biden-Harris White House Plans to “Restore America as a Champion for Women and Girls” Glamour

On Tuesday, with less than 24 hours to go until the inauguration, President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris announced the formation of the White House Gender Policy Council, aiming for what the team is calling a government-wide focus on uplifting the rights of girls and women in the United States and around the world, restoring America as a champion for women and girls.”

The council will be cochaired by Jennifer Klein and Julissa Reynoso, two women with extensive experience fighting for gender equity. According to a press release that the incoming administration released, the council will “guide and coordinate government policy that impacts women and girls, across a wide range of issues such as economic security, health care, racial justice, gender-based violence, and foreign policy, working in cooperation with the other White House policy councils.”

The Hard Part for Kamala Harris Will Come After She Makes History Politico

After laying her hand on the Bibles of the first Black Supreme Court justice and Regina Shelton, a “second mother to her,” Harris will confront a pressure that the white men she’s joining in the exclusive vice presidential club never felt. With that comes a mission—as Harris, the daughter of immigrants from Jamaica and India, puts it—to “make sure you’re not the last.” It’s the barrier that no other woman or person of color was ever able to clear.

“Starting Wednesday, we're going to be lifted up and we're going to be able to tell our story,” said Donna Brazile, the former DNC chair and a groundbreaking woman of color herself. “And for Black women, we're often invisible. People don't see us. They don't know who we are. They don't know the value that we bring to the public space. And I think this is a great opportunity.”

“We four schemed up of putting maximum pressure on Congress while they were voting,” Alexander said in a since-deleted video on Periscope highlighted by the Project on Government Oversight, an investigative nonprofit. The plan, he said, was to “change the hearts and the minds of Republicans who were in that body, hearing our loud roar from outside.”

Liz Cheney Incurs Wrath of House Republican Freedom Caucus

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), the third-highest ranking Republican leader in the House, and a long-time critic of President Donald Trump, made huge waves voting Wednesday to impeach US President Donald Trump. She was joined by nine other Republican House members in voting to impeach the sitting president.

"On January 6, 2021 a violent mob attacked the United States Capitol to obstruct the process of our democracy and stop the counting of presidential electoral votes. This insurrection caused injury, death and destruction in the most sacred space in our Republic.

"Much more will become clear in coming days and weeks, but what we know now is enough. The President of the United States summoned this mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flame of this attack. Everything that followed was his doing. None of this would have happened without the President. The President could have immediately and forcefully intervened to stop the violence. He did not. There has never been a greater betrayal by a President of the United States of his office and his oath to the Constitution.

"I will vote to impeach the President."
