Carine Roitfeld taps Kate Upton, who also starred in the first issue of Roitfeld’s CR Fashion Book, for the debut issue of CR Men’s Book. Carine Roitfeld always tries to minimize her contributions to the intellectual side of fashion, making light of fashion’s frivolity. Yet, Carine is a mistress of thinking editorials and in the first issue of CR Men’s Book, she takes on archetypes of masculinity … or, as Carine explains on her website:
… men who have both embodied and challenged the norm by blurring the boundaries of gender, sexuality, and style in their respective times. But just as important as these men were the strong women in their lives—the subjects of their intimacies, confidences, fantasies and friendships. Inspired by the idea of traditional pinup calendars, she cast Kate Upton (beloved by most modern men in her own right) to play the lovers, friends and partners of these leading men—evoking a medley of iconic styles that pays homage to a group of talented women ranging from Patti Smith and Winona Ryder to Courtney Love.

Popping over to Kate’s Instagram, the busy actor, Bobbie Brown ambassador, and Sport’s Illustrated three-time cover girl joined Candice Swanepoel, Cara Delevingne and Behati Prinsloo in calling Palmer out, referring to his not being a ‘real man’:
Kate writes:
This is not only heart breaking it’s gross. An American hunter lured a lion out of his sanctuary so he could have a lion’s head as a trophy. I love animals and try to be fair and see all sides. It’s not for food, clothing or a necessity to live, it was done with a gun for sport. Get a new sport or fight fair! That’s not a real man at all.
Walter Palmer’s Minneapolis Office Reopens
Walter Palmer’s River Bluff (Minnesota) Dental was open for business on Monday with a guard posted otside. A number of staff members were seen entering the building but Palmer himself was absent. WCCO reports.
“Today, River Bluff Dental employees and dentists are beginning to serve our loyal patients. Dr. Palmer is not on site. Our employees have no comment,” the staff said in a statement.
In an astonishing move, the River Bluff Dental clinic tweeted this image and message last week on World Lion Day.
