Romney Lost Because He Wasn't Tough Enough on Abortion Say Social Conservatives As Women Flee GOP

Pundits say the Republican party needs a period of deep inner reflection, but anti-abortion Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser will hear none of it. In quotes that are utterly preposterous at this point, Dannenfelser ignored election results and the reality that of SBA List’s six candidates for senate, five went down in defeat.

Why did Romney lose with an unyielding backlash among women voters to the Republican War on Women? Dannenfelser says that Romney made a “strategic error” in not taking a stronger stand against abortion. Seriously, this woman is living on a tuffet on a teapot somewhere in Oz.

“Voters overwhelmingly disagree with the extreme positions on abortion taken by President Obama and the Democrats. Mitt Romney, the Republican Party, and their Super PAC allies never highlighted this vulnerability, despite the fact that our polling of likely swing voters revealed it to be a persuasive line of argument. What was presented as discipline by the Romney campaign by staying on one message — the economy — was a strategic error that resulted in a winning margin of pro-life votes being left on the table.”

To say the culture wars are over is arguing that America’s Catholic bishops are ready to give up the control of women’s bodies in America. Trust me — it isn’t so. On our side of the equation, American women are highly motivated coming out of Tuesday’s election, gearing up to extend this fight for women’s freedoms in America.

2013 may not be an election year. Yet, all hell could break lose in this battle for women’s bodies.
